When this Inari Jinja originated is not clear, but from the beginning of the Edo period it was located within the grounds of the Satake clan residence. At the beginning of the Taisho Period urban redevelopment led to the foundation of Watanabe-cho, now part of Nishinippori, the shrine was relocated to a park which is now part of the grounds of a junior high school. It was later moved to its current location and somehow survived the Great Firebombing  of March 1945, which destroyed virtually the entire town. In 1971 it was rebuilt.
