Bando Inari Jinja
March 27, 2026
Nearest station: Yoshikawakoen Line: Chiba Urban Monorail
It is not clear when this Inari Jinja was founded, but it was originally located in the grounds of the residence of a well-known industrialist , Beniya Shirohei (紅谷四郎平), who is credited with the diffusion of electrical lighting in Chiba.
In 1877 he sold off part of his land to set up a shopping site; along with this the jinja was moved to its current site and was recognized as the guardian deity of the town. It was destroyed by the US firebombing in July 1945 and was rebuilt in October 1948. This is the current shrine.
