The Seven Edo Hikawa Jinja (Edo Nana Hikawa, 江戸七氷川)

These were first described in Bōkai-maidan, an anthology of historical topics, completed sometime between 1736 and 1771. Of the seven Hikawa Jinja it discusses the identity of six is clear, one is the subject of speculation.

The first shrine on the Bōkai-maidan list is  Akasaka Kado-gai Sha  (赤坂御門外の社). This became the current Akasaka Hikawa Jinja in 1730 when the main shrine was rebuilt and the enshrined Deity ceremoniously transferred to it on the orders of the then Shōgun.

The second is "Imai Seitokuji nai Hikawa Sha" (今井の盛徳寺の内の氷川の社, the Hikawa Jinja in the grounds of the  Imai Seitoku Temple). This was also merged into the current Akasaka Hikari Jinja in 1730. The Imai Seitoku Temple is now located at Kanagawa Prefecture, Isehara, Kamikasuya, 2145.

The third is the "Azabu Ipponmatsu-no-shichū-no-Sha" (麻布一本松の市中の社, the shrine in the Ipponmatsu district of Azabu). This is now

The fourth is the "Hanedamura--nite-Niihori-chikaki-tokoro-no-Sha" (羽根田村にて新堀近き所の社, the shrine near Shinbori in Haneda Village). Its location is a matter of conjecture.

The fifth is the "Shimo-Shibuya-nite-Haneda-no-yashiki-no-Sha" (渋谷にて羽根田の屋敷の社, the Haneda estate shrine in Shimo-Shibuya). This is now
